Look! A Main Floor! Week of November 6 - 10, 2006

The view from Nerinx will show a flurry of activity as the crew begins construction on the Main Floor of the theater. The Ground Floor shell is complete and all topped with what will be the final grade representing the main theater entrances, the Lounge, Commons, and three main floor classrooms.

Soon, a view from the main Nerinx Hall entrance, from behind the chain link fence, will show a large concrete slab stretching all the way to Big Bend. If you couldn't imagine the theater up until now, you certainly will after this floor is complete. The bricklayers are all waiting in the wings to begin construction on the main theater core. Out of CMU, or what you call cinder blocks, four walls will appear representing the boundaries of the house, stage and fly areas. This will rise even higher than those steel columns you see above the ground floor area we just finished.

This week, we have our foundation folks back pouring footings and foundations. We also have waterproofers and the mechanical contractors laying out where all their ductwork and pipes will go down in the art labs and storage rooms.
